Those who have gone before us...

2013 was a difficult year.  We lost 4 dear family members. 

Billie Lane...the orange lovin, pie makin, sewin, craftin Memaw...had a special place in our hearts.   The  kiddos, especially Karson, spent a lot of time with her.  They loved going to her house.  Her specialty was crunchy sugar cookies and allowing them to drink as many cokes as they wanted!  I am thankful I was given a few Santa's and other pieces of her handiwork.  She was a very talented lady.  I am so glad she was a part of our lives.

Ruth Spradling...my family lovin great grandmother...will be missed too!  Mimmie lived a long good life.  She was a strong independent woman, even after she lost her eyesight.  I will always remember her wanting the family to sing Amazing Grace when we got together every 4th of July.  And her yummy strawberry cake!!

Dale Zant...church lovin, family lovin, sports lovin grand and great grandfather...was a big part of our lives.  He was at every basketball, baseball, softball, football game he was aware of.  He could be counted on to be at church 3 times a week and bringing Lanny and Leo a coke every afternoon.  Sometimes he'd just come to the barn to check on the steers. I will always remember how he gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and was an all around positive and laid back person. 

Gonna miss my Daddy most of all.  His illness was awful and took him from us too early.  However I do have to be thankful for it as well.  His having to be home allowed us to become great friends and allowed him to become a great Papoo! My kiddos got to spend lots of time with him before he was too sick.  I am thankful they will have those memories of him.  If he had been working we would not have been able to enjoy this kind of relationship with him.

 

Looking forward to seeing them all again one day!
